The problem

The errors that matter live between the sheets.

A utility-scale package is hundreds of sheets plus studies, calcs and datasheets. The expensive mistakes sit in the gaps: a string length that breaks the inverter's voltage window at record cold, a breaker on the single-line that doesn't match the schedule, a fault level in the study that the switchgear can't interrupt.

Reviewers find them by cross-referencing by hand, under schedule pressure, at every design stage. Design IQ does the cross-referencing, so your engineers spend their time on judgment.

What it checks

Examples from the checklists teams run.

Bring your own checklist or start from ours. Each check comes back Pass, Fail or N/A with the page behind it.

PV electrical

  • String length vs inverter MPPT and max DC voltage at site record low temperature
  • Conductor ampacity and derating vs overcurrent protection
  • Combiner, inverter and transformer ratings match the single-line and datasheets
  • Module, inverter and DC/AC ratio consistent across sheets

Battery storage

  • Enclosure spacing and separation vs NFPA 855 and the fire plan
  • PCS and MV transformer ratings match the single-line
  • Auxiliary and HVAC loads carried into aux transformer sizing
  • Detection, suppression and deflagration venting called out

Substation + interconnection

  • Short-circuit study fault levels vs equipment interrupting ratings
  • Grounding study results reflected in the grid design
  • POI voltage, MW and MVAR consistent with the interconnection agreement
  • Protection scheme and relay settings referenced

Civil + structural

  • Pile embedment and foundations vs geotechnical recommendations
  • Grading and drainage vs the stormwater plan
  • Access road and fire lane widths vs AHJ requirements
  • Racking loads vs site wind and snow criteria

What you get back

A finding you can check in seconds.

Every result says what was checked, what the documents show, and where. Your engineer opens the cited page, agrees or overrides, and moves on.

Fail

MV breakers are rated for the available fault current

The 34.5 kV main breaker is rated 25 kA interrupting (E-001), but the short-circuit study reports 31.4 kA available at the collector bus (Table 4). Raise the breaker rating or confirm the study basis.

How it works

01

Upload the set

Drag in drawings, studies, specs and datasheets. The agent indexes every page.

02

Pick a checklist

Use your own, imported from a file, or start from a Design IQ checklist.

03

Check the findings

Review each finding against its highlighted page, accept or override it, and export the comment log to Excel.

FAQ

Solar + BESS, specifically.

Pricing and data questions are on the pricing page.

All of them. Teams run it at 30, 60 and 90 percent and IFC, and on acquisitions to diligence a data room. Re-run the same checklist on each revision and compare.
